Lake Tarpon

Located on the east side of Lake Tarpon in Palm Harbor, Florida, John Chesnut Sr. Park is one of the most popular natural getaways near Tampa. The park has 255 acres of nature trails and waterways. It is also home to a dog park and a boat ramp.

There are three short nature trails that wind through pine flatwoods and oak hammocks. At the end of the trail, you can take in a stunning view of Lake Tarpon. You can walk along the boardwalks to watch gators, alligators, and other wildlife.

There are plenty of benches along the creek, allowing you to rest and enjoy the scenery. A 40-foot observation tower offers a great view of the lake. The trail is self-guided and leads you to the edge of the lake.

Lookout Tower
